Hello Huntly, welcome to The RV Magazine. Can you share a memorable experience from your travels around the world that has had a significant impact on your perspective as an actor?
My mom and I have traveled many places. Every city/country has so many different life lessons.Getting lost in Denmark, seeing the beauty of the Northern lights in Iceland, and tasting all the yummy food across Europe. I feel fortunate to have so many experience that help not only my acting abilities but also my ability to speak with others and talk about their experiences, too.
How did your first acting opportunity come about, and how did that experience shape your decision to pursue acting as a career?
My first acting opportunity came when there was a movie being shot near us and they were looking for extras. We thought it would be fun to apply. When we got on set, they ended up pulling me off to the side to give me a larger role in the production. I was one of the main actors for the movie that day. That experience made me realize how fun acting could be and it sort of spiraled out of control from there.
With a passion for learning and developing your acting skills, can you tell us about a specific moment or project where you felt you made significant progress in your craft?
I think the first time I worked with Mrs. Bondurant my acting coach. I significantly improved in my acting ability since she is such an amazing knowledgeable, and is a successful actress herself.
Being involved in commercials, voice-overs, web series, TV, and movie projects, is there a particular medium or genre that you find most enjoyable or challenging?
Movie projects are always the most fun, but I think voiceovers can be really tough, unique, and challenging because you have to portray emotion only through your voice and not your facial expressions and body movements.
How do you balance your love for school, tennis, video games, and relaxation with the demands of an acting career?
It can be hard, but I put myself to a very strict schedule to make sure I can do everything I want to do and get all my schoolwork done on top of that. Sometimes I think this is too much. But then I take a break. Acting is my passion. So, it is well worth the time I put into it to be the best I can be.
As an only child, how has your family's support played a role in your acting journey, and do you have any funny or interesting anecdotes from your time spent with them on set or during your pursuits?
I would not be where I am today without my family’s support, and I am extremely grateful to have them by my side. I remember when we were about to fly home to where we live after a long day on set, but we ended up missing our flight so instead we just went to a theme park and made it work!
Could you share an instance where you faced a particularly challenging role, and how did you prepare for it? What did you learn from that experience?
I recall the time when I was casted for a role that I was too tall to play but instead of giving up and not accepting the role, the team behind the movie made it work by using camera techniques to make it appear like I was shorter than I was. It goes to show that you should never give up and there is always a solution to a problem.
What advice would you give to other young aspiring actors who are just starting their journey in the industry?
My dad taught me, never give up and keep pushing through things like failed auditions because everything will work out in the end.
Are there any specific actors or filmmakers who have inspired or influenced your approach to acting?
Every actor I have ever seen act has influenced me in some way because you can always learn from other people’s performances. I am not sure if I could name a specific actor that I really look up to because I look up to anyone who has made it in the field.
Given your quick wit and pleasant personality, how do you incorporate your unique traits into the characters you portray on screen?
I try to use real world emotion to bring out the emotion in characters all of the time, it is very important that I do that, so my performances feel real.
Can you share some details about a project or role that you are particularly excited about and why it stands out for you?
I am very excited for a recent feature film project I have been casted for, but I am not allowed to say much about it yet. The premise of the script is unique. My role is not the kind of character I have played in the past. So, happy to challenge myself to make sure I portray the character as write-in in the script.
With your goal of continuous improvement, what are some specific steps you take to stay dedicated to honing your craft, and how do you approach preparing for new opportunities in your acting career?
I always put the right amount of work into any new opportunity and make sure what I put in is the best I can do. It is impossible to be the perfect actor so I know I can always improve, and I do that by practicing as much as I can with other actors and coaches.
What is your personal standard for reaching your career goal as an actor?
My personal goal is to be a successful actor, and known as a polite, cheerful, hard-working actor that respects and learns, and works well with directors, fellow actors, and the production team. I guess I will know I made it when I receive a Tom Cruise Bundt cake for the holidays!
